Apparently there is some weirdness going on here with search strings about “payday loans” and other garbage showing up on my pages (it also shows up in Google search page previews). This is NOT my content, I didn’t put it there and it doesn’t show up in the pages when I go to edit them. It seems to be a problem at the host, but I’m unable to duplicate the problem which was brought to my attention by a very angry reader who thought I was responsible for it–I’m not. If any of you are seeing this garbage on my site, please let me know and send screenshots if you can so I can show them to Dreamhost and let them know what’s going on.

WorldCon Schedule and New Event
My schedule for WorldCon is up at the Tour page and I’ve added a new event: I’ll be doing a short workshop at Foolscap in September. Please note I do not have any readings, signings, or kaffeklatsches at WorldCon. This was not my choice, there simply weren’t enough slots and I lost out. Please catch me after a panel or hanging out in the bar if you would like to chat or get a book signed.

Beyond Words
I simply don’t know what to say in response to this extraordinary review of Seawitch (and the Greywalker series) by Paul Goat Allen at Barnes & Noble’s Explorations blog. I’m flattered and utterly undone.
After reading the seventh installment of Kat Richardson’s Greywalker saga (Greywalker, Poltergeist, Underground, Vanished, Labyrinth, Downpour, and the recently released Seawitch) – which features Seattle based private investigator Harper Blaine who, after being clinically dead for almost two minutes, can now see into the Grey (the realm of ghosts and other supernatural beings) – I find myself at a loss for words as I sit in front of my computer attempting to write a review….

That’s Very Nice
“This is a unique urban fantasy series that never disappoints.” Quite a nice review of Seawitch from SciFiChick today. Hurray! If you’d like to see more reviews, take a peek at the Seawitch book page.

Me, reading from Seawitch
For those of you who couldn’t come to the reading at the University Book Store or elsewhere, the wonderful Shawn Speakman recorded my reading in Seattle for Suvudu.com.
Use the link above if the video isn’t running here correctly.
Shawn also runs The Signed Page website and you can order a signed, personalized copy of Seawitch from his page if you haven’t been able to get one at University Book Store or Seattle Mystery Bookshop.

Murder and Mayhem Anthology
There’s a Harper Blaine short story–among many wonderful others by some amazing writers–in the upcoming Murder and Mayhem in Muskego anthology. M&M in M is a fabulous event to support the Muskego public library and more fun than a bar room full of revenge-seeking nuns toting guns. If you’re a mystery fan or fan of the offbeat and wonderful, you’ll love it!

Soon, My Precious….
Well, with less than a week to the official launch of Seawitch, I’m starting to get excited and exhausted already. The official book launch will be at Powell’s at Cedar Hills Crossing, in Beaverton Oregon on August 7 at 7 pm. Then I drive back to Seattle for a reading and signing at the University Book Store Wednesday August 8 at 7 pm, then a day off, then a Noon signing at Seattle Mystery Bookshop in Pioneer Square, then a day to travel to the Los Angeles area for a reading and signing at Mysterious Galaxy in Redondo Beach on Sunday August 12 at 2:30 pm. Then I hop on a plane and come home to get back to work on Greywalker #8 until it’s time to fly to San Francisco on Sunday August 19 for a multi-author panel, signing, and swag-a-ton at Borderlands Books at 3 pm. It’s nice to be busy!
Hoping to see some of you guys at the events, but if you can’t come and you’d like a signed book, please contact one of the stores hosting events in advance and they’ll take your order and get me to sign a book for you. If you call after the event, you may still be able to get a signed and dated book but it won’t be personalized. University Book Store, Seattle Mystery Bookshop and The Signed Page website will all be able to get you signed and even personalized books after the events, but you’ll have to wait for me to drop in and sign them before they can be shipped.
And if you still want to catch up to me in person I’ll be attending WorldCon in Chicago over Labor Day weekend and I’ll be at World Fantasy Convention in Toronto the first weekend of November. See you there!
